I have been in spirituality-centered professions since 2002. I am a graduate of Otterbein College (BA) and Candler School of Theology at Emory University (MDiv). I received my spiritual direction certification from Chestnut Hill College’s graduate department and have provided one-on-one spiritual companionship and contemplative group retreat leadership since 2007.
I have worked as a hospice spiritual counselor since 2013 and, before that, as a United Methodist local church pastor and progressive Protestant campus minster. While I have had some wonderful opportunities for international travel, I have spent my life in the United States - in the Midwest and Southeast, and have called the Philadelphia region home since 2002. I have personal history in a traditional Protestant denomination, so know something of what it is like to be shaped by a large, mainstream religious tradition. While that was my foundation, my own spiritual practice and understanding has shifted and expanded through years of connection to wisdom from many traditions and sources. I am also a mother, spouse, daughter, sister, friend, neighbor and cancer survivor who loves many things, including music, hiking, nature photography, travel, movies, food, books and our sometimes grumpy cat. |
We are very good at preparing to live, but not very good at living. We know how to sacrifice ten years for a diploma, and we are willing to work very hard to get a job, a car, a house, and so on. But we have difficulty remembering that we are alive in the present moment, the only moment there is for us to be alive. - Thich Nhat Hanh
