We are made for connection – to our own inner life, each other, to the earth itself, and to the Love that is larger than us all. While this is innate in us, these connections need intention and attention in order to deepen, strengthen and thrive.
When it comes to connecting with our own inner life, we are, in a profound way, alone, since no one can pay attention to our heart, except us. We each have unique experiences, insights and energy. Although this aspect of life is, in one way, profoundly solitary, we also need one another, for encouragement, comfort, validation and perspective. Spiritual direction/companionship is one type of relationship for fostering connection – a relationship based on compassionate, open-hearted listening to inner truth and needs, questions and yearning - and, in so doing, to nurture all manner of sacred connections. For many people, their understanding of self, relationships, God/the divine, shifts over time. This can be an enlivening experience, but also frightening, painful, isolating or disorienting. If you are looking for a way to pay more attention to your inner life, your heart and spirit, and your connection to truth and Love larger than us all, I would be honored to companion you on your journey. I welcome people of all sexual orientations, gender identities and gender expressions as partners in spiritual direction. You are invited into this relationship whether you attend a church, mosque, synagogue, temple, or none of these. Please contact me for a complimentary initial conversation. |
If your problem is soul-deep, your soul alone knows what you need to do about it . . . so the best service I can render when you speak to me about such a struggle is to hold you faithfully in space where you can listen to your inner teacher. - Parker Palmer
